We are looking for a highly motivated post-doc to work with us in the Collaborative Research Centre 1242 “Non-Equilibrium Dynamics of Condensed Matter in the Time Domain,” newly granted by the German Science Foundation for initially 4 years. The centre is formed by 21 principal investigators that are specialists in areas such as ultra-fast laser and/or electron spectroscopy, X-ray and electron diffraction, ion scattering, surface microscopy or theoretical condensed matter physics. By combining sophisticated experiments with high- level theory development and modelling, we aim to develop a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms governing the time-evolution of strongly excited condensed matter systems.

You will be given the opportunity to work with a newly installed unique fs-ps-laser system. You will be the person responsible for the day-to-day availability of the system which will be the work horse for two projects: i) Femtosecond time-resolved non-linear Raman (CARS, SECARS) and transient absorption spectroscopy of intramolecular proton transfer (Schlücker group) ii) Time-resolved IR-pump-SFG-probe spectroscopy of vibrational energy flow in organic monolayers (Hasselbrink group). We expect you to take on a leading role in one of these two projects.

You have recently obtained a PhD in physics or a related field and got hands-on experience with fs-laser systems. Moreover, you are a good team player and a master in communicating research results. You like to explore innovative and original ideas in research.

The position is initially available for one year. Extensions for up to 2 1/2 years are conceivable. It is intended to fill the position as early as possible.
