Research Associate (Postdoc) in Physics M/F

The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in the Laboratory for photovoltaics in the frame of a research project funded by the Fonds national de la recherche and by industry.

The Laboratory for Photovoltaics works on novel materials for solar cells and IR detectors. Within a project in collaboration with an industrial partner we develop new materials and devices for low cost IR detection.

Research Associate (Postdoc) in Physics M/F

  • Ref. R-AGR-3100-10-C
  • Fixed-term contract 23,5 months, full-time (40 hrs/week)
  • Employee status
  • Start date: January 15th, 2018

The postdoc will be a member of the Physics and Material Science research unit within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.

Activities

  • preparation of semiconductor films by co-evaporation
  • opto-electronic characterisation of semiconductors films and detector devices
  • contact with industry partner
  • reporting to funding agency
  • publications in international journals and conferences

Profile

  • Doctoral degree in Physics (or equivalent) with excellent grades
  • Good background in solid state physics, preferably in IR detectors, semiconductors
  • Willing and able to advise students
  • Self-motivated, committed and curious
  • Creative and able to think independently
  • Excellent command of English
